Sailed Hove from 5-7pm. On the old Windsurfer again because I had no other kit in the car. A lot of wind for that old kit and after half an hour I took the dagger board out because it was driving me hard up wind in the big gusts and when I got up speed. Much better without it and the plume of water through the dagger box was reaching up through the boom. The small leech battens kept getting shaken out of the sail and twice I had to quickly dive down and retrieve them before they sunk more than a couple of feet. All was going well, almost got the beast right up onthe plane but the excess speed tore the fin off its screws and that was gone to the depths. Quite an experience finding yourself half a mile out with no fin, no dagger, in 20mph offshore winds with only a baggy saggy billowing sail for company. The tail of the board was constantly trying to overtake the nose requiring one foot to be waaay in front of the mast. The small swell meant you could just about hold an edge as long as a gust didnt come. This lead to a lot of uphauling. Thankfully made it back unscathed after a lot of graft. Good session anyway.
